Hebden Bridge Film Festival

Saturday, March 28 2020 01:30PM - 04:30PM

With over 500 years of non-conformism in the valley, it seems fitting that the Hebden Bridge Film Festival (HBFF) theme is "The Other". They celebrate films by or about those who exist in the margins, sit outside the mainstream or just plain don’t fit in.

2020's HBFF is bringing you a dazzling program of world cinema, and UK and US independent film, as well as supporting and fostering new talent. It will be a packed weekend of exciting new films that will engage, challenge and delight you.

The Soufra screening will be paired with a Q&A led by Rotary Peace Fellow, Nabila Al Zaeem. Nabila was born in Gaza, Palestine, where she spent all of her life in a conflict area. The Gaza Strip has been confronted with continued political unrest and conflict over the past decades. Through her work, Nabila participated in several meetings and campaigns calling to promote the access of the Palestinian people to peace. These aimed at raising the awareness of youth and children of their rights, and of international laws and agreements.

Her particular areas of interest are advocacy, gender issues, women’s and human rights, peace-building, humanitarian issues, management and co-ordination of development programs and MEAL (Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning).
